STINT is a recruitment and staffing agency. The company was founded in 2018  by brothers Sam and Sol Schlagman to improve the lives of students in the UK while also helping out the local restaurants and café. The company wants to build a new and smarter labour model by owning their pool of workers to supper the core team of other businesses. The current STINT  community consist of 250.000 Stinters and 11 to 50 employees. The four values of STINT are kindness, integrity, ambition and energy.

The initial goal

The initial goal of STINT is to provide the existing business with added value to their core team. This will help free up the core team to let them focus on the things they were hired and trained to do in the first place: create a wonderful experience for their customers. The Stinters that are employable are bright and hardworking; they are the perfect complement to any experienced team. The company STINT is working hard to make a positive impact on both the workers and the businesses they work with.

How it works

If you are not a fan of regular staffing agencies, STINT is for you. With STINT businesses don’t need to invest countless hours rehiring new employees. This will decrease your labour costs and match the demand. The companies don’t need to spend money on unnecessary costly long shifts and overstaffing on quiet days. The students who want flexible and short shifts can give their preference in the app and adjust it every week. The shifts range from 2 to 8 hours long. If they don’t want to work, there is no commitment.

The business aims to give more flexible working hours and short shifts for students to unlock a more efficient way of operating. This will eventually benefit the customers, support the core teams and reduce labour spend. The students will become part of a core team to support them with no pressure.

According to reviews by students is STINT easy to use and the interview process takes about a day or two. There is also a good work-life balance possible with the kind of work. The cons are that the work compensation and benefits are quite slim since you are an outside force, like a freelancer. Moreover, job security is lacking since you rely on businesses to post jobs. Another student says that the activities are not great and mostly the hand-me-down tasks that nobody else wants to do. In addition, the reviews say you get paid differently for each job that you confirm.
