AMPYR Solar Europe (ASE) was founded in February 2021. This joint venture consists of NaGa Solar, Hartree Partners, and AGP Group. We spoke with Henny Pelsers, CEO and founder of NaGa Solar, and asked him about his plans for AMPYR Solar Europe.
The focus of AMPYR Solar Europe is on solar energy. Due to reduced government subsidies, it is becoming increasingly challenging to realise the development of solar parks. Power purchase agreements (PPAs) are playing an increasingly important role in generating predictable income on a scale that is profitable. With AMPYR Solar Europe, it is possible to realise solar parks without government subsidies by entering into these power purchase agreements. Henny Pelsers states, “Our goal is to generate at least four gigawatts of solar energy with new solar projects. Initially, our focus is on the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Germany. Later, we aim to add multiple European countries to our portfolio and, like Ampyr Solar Europe, act as investors ourselves.”
“In a joint venture, we can combine our strengths and share our expertise,” explains Henny Pelsers. Europe has the ambition to achieve net-zero emissions in the future. Solar energy plays a significant role in realising this goal. We want to respond to this by developing more European solar energy in a short period. In our joint venture, we bring together our knowledge. For example, NaGa Solar has in-depth local knowledge of solar energy and land development. AGP specialises in the development of large-scale sustainable energy projects. And Hartree is focused on advanced energy market analyses and carbon-free solutions.” This collaboration will accelerate the build-up of solar capacity.
NaGa Solar has extensive experience in developing and implementing innovative solar energy projects and other large-scale projects in sustainable energy. “We want to contribute this expertise to AMPYR Solar Europe. Furthermore, we not only have experience in the development of solar parks, but we also consider the environment. This means that we not only aim to create a standard solar park but also explore whether the area can serve multiple functions. For example, we have established a solar park where livestock can also graze.” An important addition is that the new joint venture allows NaGa Solar to become the owner of these solar parks.
